Moolah in wrestling. Most people that know anything about wrestling, knows
about the Fabulous Moolah. The WWE (WWF at the time)
Women's Championship Title was literally hers. While
Trish Stratus
holds the record for women's title holder 7 times and Moolah only 4,
Moolah has held the title for 30 years. This is a record that will most
definitely never be broken.
Fabulous Moolah grew up quick, marrying at age 14. She began wrestling for promoters some of which expected explicit favors for billing. Moolah was never this kind of woman, she was a wrestler and an entertainer.
Moolah lived an amazing life having been with such men like "Nature Boy" Buddy Lee and Hank Williams Sr. She was friends with Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. She lived with wrestling friends like Katie Glass for 40 years as well as Mae Young for over 15 years. Fabulous Moolah wrestled in the 1940s, the 1950s, the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s as far as 2003. In 2003 she was 80 years old and won the WWE Women's Championship Title one more time. Fabulous Moolah actually gave up rights to this title (in which she owned) in the early 1980s, an act of passing the torch to the future of female wrestlers... Angelina Love, Michelle McCool, Trish Stratus, Velvet Sky and many many others who do put their bodies on the line for our entertainment purposes.
Fabulous Moolah, inducted into the 1st WWE Hall of Fame in 1995, will never be forgotten in the wrestling world. She gave us many years in a business that was trudging, into the 1980s boom and beyond. This legend will always be.
